2023 Fautor - Feteasca Regala Valul lui Trajan Aurore (750ml)

Fautor is a family-owned winery founded in the late twentieth century in Moldova, with vineyards and production centered in the Tigheci microzone, part of the Valul lui Traian growing area in the south of the country. Between 2003 and 2006 the estate expanded its vineyards and modernized its facilities, and it now farms more than 350 hectares. Fautor has been recognized as the most awarded Moldovan winery in several recent years and is known for working with rare local grape varieties alongside original blends.

Aurore is made entirely from Feteasca Regala, whose name translates to "royal maiden" and which ranks among the most aromatic of Moldova's native white grapes. The fruit is grown in the Tigheci microzone, an area the winery considers especially suited to quality winemaking thanks to its particular combination of soil and microclimate within Valul lui Traian. The finished wine is vinified dry and reaches around 12 to 12.5 percent alcohol.

This wine shows a pale straw-yellow color with faint greenish reflections. The nose is expressive, with jasmine, citrus blossom, and tropical fruit leading into a lively, well-structured palate. Serve it chilled alongside shellfish or shrimp, grilled white fish with vegetables, chicken salad with a lemon-herb dressing, or soft cheeses like brie and camembert.
