2023 Quinta da Raza - Raza Pet Nat Branco (750ml)

Quinta da Raza is a family-owned property in the Basto sub-region of Vinho Verde, established by Diogo Teixeira Coelho's ancestors in 1791 and now run by Diogo and his wife Mafalda across roughly forty hectares of vineyard. Set in sheltered uplands around 250 meters, not far from the lower reaches of the Douro, the estate is known for balancing traditional Vinho Verde character with a more exploratory, natural approach to winemaking across its range.

This Pet Nat is a single-variety expression of Trajadura, a grape prized in the region for its natural acidity and elegance. Following the ancestral method, the wine begins its fermentation with indigenous yeasts and minimal added sulfur, then is bottled before the process finishes, trapping the wine's own carbon dioxide to create its natural sparkle. Left unfiltered, the wine develops a cloudy appearance from the fine sediment that settles during this spontaneous fermentation.

In the glass this wine shows bright, zesty citrus and stone fruit aromas with white floral notes, while bready lees character adds texture and a touch of weight on the palate. It finishes fresh and clean, with a lively natural fizz. It works well as an aperitif or alongside light seafood dishes.
