2024 Domaine Barcelo - Vermentino VdP de l'Ile de Beaute (750ml)

Domaine Barcelo is located in Aghione, on the eastern coast of Corsica, the Mediterranean island the French call the "Île de Beauté." The estate has been in the Barcelo family for a number of years and sits on vineyards positioned between the sea and the surrounding mountains, a setting the family has used to produce wines that reflect both continental grape varieties and the island's own indigenous character.

This cuvée is built mainly from Vermentino, Corsica's signature white grape, with a portion of Bianco Gentil rounding out the blend. The grapes are picked in the early morning to preserve freshness and limit oxidation, then pressed and fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The wine undergoes partial malolactic fermentation and spends three months aging on its lees, with one round of stirring, or battonage, to build texture and depth.

The finished wine shows a pale yellow color with greenish hues and a fine, expressive nose of citrus and white flowers. The palate opens fresh and full, finishing with a pleasant fruity acidity. It works well as an aperitif or alongside light starters, salads, seafood, and grilled fish.
