2024 Quinta Do Crasto - Douro Branco (750ml)
Quinta do Crasto is one of the oldest wine estates in the Douro, with records tracing the property back to 1615, well before the region became the world's first demarcated wine appellation in 1756. The name comes from the Latin castrum, meaning Roman fort. Since 1981 the estate has been owned and run by the Roquette family, who have modernized the vineyards and cellars while continuing the property's long tradition of fine Port and table wine production along the Douro's right bank.
This white is a blend of Viosinho, Gouveio, and Rabigato, drawn from high-altitude vines over twenty years old. Grapes are hand harvested in small crates, sorted carefully at the winery, then destemmed and pressed. The must settles briefly in cold stainless steel before fermentation, and the finished wine ages mostly in steel tanks with partial lees stirring, a method that builds texture while preserving the vineyard's natural freshness and mineral character.
Pale lemon in the glass, this wine shows bright citrus and floral aromas, with hints of wild asparagus and orange blossom. The palate is fresh and vibrant, well balanced, with a clean, persistent finish. It pairs nicely with grilled fish, shellfish, or a simple green salad.
