2025 Oyster Bay - Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough (750ml)
Oyster Bay's inaugural vintage won the title of Best Sauvignon Blanc in the World at an international competition in 1991, an early milestone that helped announce New Zealand's arrival on the global wine stage. The winery has since built its reputation on consistency, delivering a reliably crisp and elegant style vintage after vintage, and stands today as a founding member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, reflecting a long-term commitment to responsible farming across its Marlborough vineyards.
Fruit for this bottling is drawn from prime sites across the Wairau, Renwick, and Brancott areas, where shallow sandy loams over free-draining river gravels keep vigor low and concentrate flavor in the grapes. Harvest proceeds progressively, beginning with the stonier, earlier-ripening coastal blocks and moving through later sites as the season allows. After gentle pressing and juice clarification, the wine undergoes a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, then is bottled young to lock in its fresh, vibrant fruit character.
The nose is vivid and sharp, with grassy and stony notes framing grapefruit pith, green apple, and passion fruit. The palate stays crisp and zippy through a light, citrusy finish. This is a natural match for fresh oysters and other shellfish, or a simple green salad on a warm afternoon.
