2025 Pellegrino - Terre Siciliane Bianco IGT Zibibbo Gibele (750ml)
Cantine Pellegrino has been cultivating Sicilian vineyards since 1880, making it one of the island's oldest and most established wine producers. Based between Marsala and Pantelleria, the winery has spent well over a century building deep familiarity with native grape varieties and traditional growing methods across western Sicily. That long history shapes their approach to indigenous grapes like Zibibbo, also known as Moscato d'Alessandria.
Gibele is crafted entirely from Zibibbo grown on clay soils of volcanic origin in the province of Trapani. Harvest begins in the first ten days of September, followed by partial maceration and gentle pressing of the grapes. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, and the wine then rests in stainless steel for four months, with a final period of refinement continuing in the bottle before release.
The wine pours a pale straw yellow and opens with an intensely floral nose of jasmine and lavender, layered with green apple and citron. On the palate it is dry and fresh, with a lively acidity that carries through to a long finish. This makes it a natural match for seafood soups, crudo, and shellfish, and it also holds up well alongside light salads or fresh goat cheese.
