Remhoogte Estate sits on the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain in Stellenbosch, a farm founded in 1995 when Murray Boustred left a career in construction to uproot his family and pursue winemaking full time. What began as a small operation producing just five barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon has grown into an estate turning out roughly 12,000 bottles a year, with the Boustred family still living and working on the property. Remhoogte takes its name from the Afrikaans words for brake and heights, a nod to both its elevated position and the steep terrain that shapes its farming.

First Light comes from the estate's Chenin Blanc vineyard, planted in 1987 and situated to catch the very first rays of morning sun rising over the Simonsberg. Grapes are hand selected from the interior of the bunches, then fermented using wild, indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. This approach preserves the grape's natural freshness while allowing Remhoogte's varied soils and diurnal temperature swings, common across the property's many microclimates, to shape the wine's character.

The wine offers vibrant aromas of lime, passion fruit, and apricot, carried by a crisp, lively acidity that makes it feel bright and sunny in the glass. It drinks with real energy from start to finish, showing the kind of freshness that suits warm weather sipping just as easily as the table. Try it alongside Asian influenced dishes with white meat or vegetables, a light salad, or soft to semi hard cheeses.
