Argyle Winery has spent decades earning its place as one of Oregon's most respected producers, founded in 1987 with a grower-first philosophy centered on estate vineyards in the Dundee Hills and Eola-Amity Hills. The Nuthouse bottling draws on that legacy, built primarily from grapes grown at the estate's Lone Star Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills, with a smaller portion of fruit from the neighboring Spirit Hill Vineyard rounding out the blend. Together the two sites give this cuvée its signature combination of structure and refinement, a hallmark of Argyle's approach to site-specific Pinot Noir.

The 2022 vintage came from a notably cool growing season in the Willamette Valley, which slowed ripening and helped preserve the wine's mineral character and dark fruit intensity. In the cellar, the grapes underwent a cold soak before fermenting in small, 1.5-ton fermenters, a technique chosen to build a silky texture, with about ten percent whole cluster inclusion added to boost freshness and complexity. The wine was then aged in French oak for over a year before bottling.

The nose shows red cherry, blueberry, and violet layered over notes of dusty soil and tobacco leaf. On the palate, dense red and dark fruit meet a vibrant core of acidity, finishing with tannins that are firm but polished. Its structure makes it a good match for braised short ribs, roasted lamb, or a rich beef stew.

92 Points
"Exuberantly lively and pinpoint in focus, with vibrant cherry and cranberry flavors laced with cinnamon and fresh violet tones as this zips along the finish. Drink now through 2032. 725 cases made."
