2024 Seghesio - Zinfandel Sonoma (750ml)
From five generations of Seghesio winemaking comes a 2024 Sonoma Zinfandel that stands as a benchmark for the variety in the region. Crafted from more than 150 individual lots harvested across Alexander Valley, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valley—each fermented separately and then masterfully blended—this wine captures the distinct strengths of each terroir. The Alexander Valley portion contributes ripe, dark fruit and soft tannins, Dry Creek lends black cherry intensity and a structured backbone, and Russian River brings bright acidity and red fruit lift. The result is a supple yet brambly profile that harmonizes power and finesse.
Tasting profile
On the palate, expect raspberry and black cherry layered over roasted sage, cracked pepper, and licorice. The wine finishes with zesty tannins that invite another sip and a sense of lift rather than heaviness. This is a Zinfandel with depth and precision, built to age gracefully while staying fruit-forward in its youth.
Aging and production
Aged 10 months in barrel with minimal new oak to preserve fruit purity and the wine’s vibrant, fruit-forward character. This careful approach allows the vineyard-driven blend to shine through without overpowering oak influence.
Provenance and recognition
Wine Spectator recognized the prior vintage as Wine Value of the Year; this 2024 release carries the same DNA—a wine that reflects Seghesio’s long legacy in Sonoma Zinfandel while delivering distinct, vineyard-driven complexity.
