2025 Apollo’s Praise Riesling Kabinett from Lahoma Vineyard on Seneca Lake represents Kelby James Russell and Julia Rose Hoyle’s dedicated collaboration. Building on their paths from Fox Run to head winemaking roles at Red Newt Cellars and Hosmer Vineyards, they acquired the nearly 20-acre Lahoma Vineyard on the lake’s west side in April 2023—the very site where Kelby earned his reputation crafting The Knoll Riesling. This Kabinett bottling celebrates one of Riesling’s most delicious yet misunderstood styles, delivering aromatic lift with crisp, refreshing acidity for a youthful, approachable profile.

The grapes are picked early to preserve bright orchard fruit and acidity, then treated with a gentler cellar approach: crushed and cold soaked for just 24 hours before a cool, slow, aromatic fermentation. The result is a wine that opens with a raucous aroma of ripe peach, passion fruit, kiwi, and mango, and carries a lively midpalate where fruit sweetness is balanced by quenching acidity, finishing clean and crisp. This off-dry style is generous and immediately appealing, yet structured enough to age gracefully over years.

Pair this expressive Kabinett with spicy Asian cuisine or roast pork, or enjoy it on its own as a refreshing aperitif.
