Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona is one of the most respected names in Montalcino, built on 35 hectares in the prized Castelnuovo dell'Abate zone. The estate passed to Giuseppe Bianchini in 1985, a gift from Countess Elda Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona, who had managed the property but had no heirs of her own. Today his children, Paolo and Lucia Bianchini, continue the work, drawing on prized holdings that include the Pianrosso vineyard, source of the family's celebrated Brunello, and the Fonte vineyard, which supplies fruit for this Rosso.

The wine is made from 100 percent Sangiovese Grosso grown on organically farmed vineyards at 180 to 360 meters above sea level, where marly, mineral-rich soils shape the fruit's character. Vinification takes place in a combination of stainless steel and concrete vats, allowing the grape's natural freshness to come through, before the wine settles into large Slavonian oak casks for about a year prior to bottling.

In the glass, this Rosso shows a bright ruby hue with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and wild herbs threaded through gentle spice and a savory, earthy undertone. The palate is soft and round, with lively acidity carrying through to a clean, fresh finish. It suits everyday meals well, from pasta in tomato sauce to grilled poultry or a plate of cured meats.
