2019 Verbena - Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (750ml)

Verbena is a family-run estate in Montalcino, where winemaker Paolo Caciorgna works in the Brunello tradition among vineyards, olive groves, and high-elevation Sangiovese parcels. The estate draws on three Montalcino vineyard sources and ferments them separately, then treats its Riserva as a distinct expression with its own oak program rather than an extension of the standard Brunello.

Montalcino, about 70 miles south of Florence, is warmer and drier than neighboring Chianti, and Brunello di Montalcino is made from Sangiovese, including a local clone called Brunello. The 2019 growing season is widely regarded as exceptional in the appellation, with a warm but rarely excessive summer and well-timed rain that favored freshness alongside structure. As a Riserva, it also ages longer than standard Brunello before release.

Verbena's Riserva style leans toward dark, ripe berry, spice, and hazelnut aromas over a full-bodied palate of rounded, dusty tannins, closing on a savory finish. The fresh, structured character of the 2019 vintage points to a long life ahead.
