2020 Ciacci - Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso (1.5L)

Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona is a leading estate of Montalcino, based in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate subzone of southern Tuscany. The property passed to the Bianchini family in 1985, a gift from Countess Elda Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona, who had no direct heirs and entrusted the land to Giuseppe Bianchini, her longtime estate manager. Under his stewardship the domaine became one of the region's most consistent Brunello producers, known for richness and finesse.

Pianrosso is the estate's flagship single-vineyard bottling, sourced from an 11.69 hectare parcel of five contiguous plots rising from 240 to 360 meters above sea level. The soil is a mix of galestro and marl from the Eocene period, rich in iron, lending structure and a mineral backbone. Farmed with Sangiovese Grosso, the traditional Brunello clone, the 2020 vintage aged in large, neutral oak casks before release, preserving fruit purity while allowing gentle development.

The 2020 Pianrosso is intensely aromatic, layering raspberry, morello cherry, and blood orange with rose petal, licorice, and warm spice, alongside hints of tobacco and forest floor. On the palate it is full-bodied yet polished, with velvety tannins and bright acidity carrying the fruit to a long finish. It pairs well with braised beef, grilled lamb, or aged pecorino.
