2022 Petra - Toscana Rosso IGT Zingari Rosso (750ml)

Petra is a modern estate in Suvereto, in Tuscany's Maremma coast, founded by the father and daughter team of Vittorio and Francesca Moretti, who also own the well-known Franciacorta houses Bellavista and Contadi Castaldi. The winery's striking cylindrical cellar was designed by a world-renowned architect who shaped both the building and the surrounding vineyards into a single, deliberate landscape. Zingari takes its name from an old roadside spring along the ancient Via Aurelia, once a resting point for travelers and wanderers passing through the region.

The 2022 vintage draws on fruit grown in the sun-warmed hills around Suvereto and nearby Riotorto, blending Merlot, Sangiovese, Syrah, and Petit Verdot into a wine shaped by the area's Mediterranean climate. The grapes are vinified separately by variety before blending, and the finished wine is aged to retain freshness and immediacy rather than heavy structure, reflecting Petra's approach of pairing international grapes with distinctly Tuscan character.

Deep ruby in color with violet highlights, the wine opens with black cherry, wild blackberry, and plum, layered with sweet spice, graphite, and dried herbs. The palate is plush and fruit-forward, carrying soft tannins alongside notes of cocoa and toasted vanilla. It pairs nicely with panino with mortadella, roasted chicken, or a simple pasta with tomato sauce.
