2022 Raspail-Ay - Gigondas (750ml)

Dominique Ay's Raspail-Ay makes one of the most iconic, unpretentious wines in all of Gigondas from a single, contiguous 19-hectare block of vines mid-slope on the appellation's rugged clay-limestone terraces, backed by the dramatic Dentelles de Montmirail. A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre, hand-harvested, fully destemmed, and aged 18 to 24 months in traditional 5,000-liter oak foudres, with the Syrah spending time in barrel and demi-muid. Expect a deep, complex bouquet of ripe cherry, dark wild berries, peony, and Provençal spice, moving into a dense, fleshy palate framed by structured tannins and a long, delicately peppery finish. A genuine benchmark bottling built to drink beautifully over the next two decades.
