2023 Lecheneaut - Chambolle Musigny (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Domaine Lécheneaut, based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, was built up by brothers Philippe and Vincent Lécheneaut after they took over their father Fernand's small holding in the mid-1980s, gradually acquiring parcels across the Côte de Nuits. The domaine now farms roughly 12 hectares spread across more than 20 appellations, sustainably managed with an eye toward preserving each site's individual character. Vincent's son Jules has since joined the family business, continuing a hands-on approach that has earned Lécheneaut a following among Burgundy specialists for wines with real depth and precision.
This village-level Chambolle-Musigny is a blend of several parcels within the appellation, including Les Chardannes, Les Herbues, Les Maladières, and La Babillère, drawn from vines averaging 63 years old at elevations between 250 and 300 meters. The east-facing vineyards sit on thin, cracked limestone bedrock over Jurassic subsoil, with stone and gravel at the base of the slope providing good drainage. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, and only around 2,400 bottles are produced from this cuvée each vintage.
Chambolle-Musigny is often considered the most feminine appellation of the Côte de Nuits, and this wine leans into that reputation with an elegant, finely defined bouquet of violets and red berries. The palate is rich and complex, coating the mouth with a silky, lace-like texture while retaining real structure and durability, a combination that should let the wine develop further with age.
