Domaine Lécheneaut got its start at the end of the 1950s, when Fernand Lécheneaut began working just two and a half hectares of vines in Nuits-Saint-Georges. His sons Philippe and Vincent took the reins in 1986, expanding the estate to roughly 10 hectares spread across 18 appellations and modernizing the winery's facilities along the way. The brothers built a reputation for a classic Burgundian style, favoring density and a faithful expression of terroir over any single winemaking formula, drawing on choice parcels in Morey, Chambolle, Vosne, and Nuits.

This Vosne-Romanée comes from the Aux Ravioles lieu-dit, a plot at the base of the hill where vines average 57 years old on lightly chalky soil layered with marl and clay that runs more than a meter deep in places. As with the rest of the domaine's range, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand, and production from this parcel is limited to around 2,400 bottles a year, a scale that lets the family maintain close attention to each stage of vinification and aging.

The wine shows a deep ruby color, sometimes shading toward garnet and dark purple, with a bouquet built around very ripe fruit and a spicy undertone, including strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, and black currant. With age these aromas tend to evolve toward cherry liqueur, leather, and fur, and the wine's structure and boldness continue to develop well after bottling.
