Les Pallières is co-owned by the Brunier family of Vieux Télégraphe and importer Kermit Lynch, and the Terrasse du Diable is the estate's mountain cuvée, from its highest, coolest terraces on clay, limestone, and volcanic schist in the Dentelles de Montmirail. Mostly Grenache with Mourvèdre and Clairette, aged 20 months in large French oak foudres. Worth knowing: because of tiny yields from coulure, there is no Racines in 2023, so this is the only red Gigondas the estate made this year. Jeb Dunnuck found exotic aromatics of black cherries, mulberries, conifer, olive, pepper, and flowers, with a rounded, lively palate. Expect the cool, stony freshness this site is known for, with polished tannins and the structure to age 10 to 15 years or more. Great now with a decant and roast lamb or duck.

92 Points
"Seductive and smoky, with a pronounced herbaceous thread infusing plump cherry and plum, plus incense smoke details that hover throughout. The delicate tannins mean that this glides through, offering ample layers of saline and crushed graphite. Smoky and refined, with earth tones and tobacco on the finish, marked by chalky tannins that effortlessly hold everything together. Grenache, Mourvèdre and Clairette. Drink now through 2030. 850 cases imported."
