2024 Foradori - Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT Fontanasanta Manzoni Bianco (750ml)
Elisabetta Foradori has become one of the defining figures in Italian wine, known first for reviving and championing Teroldego, the native red grape of Trentino's Rotaliana plain, and for pioneering biodynamic farming and amphora aging in the region. Today her children Emilio, Theo, and Myrtha run the estate alongside her, continuing the family's commitment to organic and biodynamic practices across their holdings in and around Mezzolombardo.
Fontanasanta Manzoni Bianco comes from five hectares planted on the clay-limestone hills above Trento, at around 400 meters elevation. Manzoni Bianco itself is a 1930s crossing of Riesling and Pinot Bianco, and Foradori's vines here range from fifteen to thirty-five years old. The hand-harvested, destemmed grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and no added sulfur, macerating on their skins for three to four days in cement and steel before completing malolactic conversion and resting in used acacia barrels for about seven months, then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The result is a wine of real tension and depth, with white flowers, tangerine, and ripe apple giving way to ginger-spiced peach, lime zest, and a saline, mineral edge. Full-bodied yet vibrant, its notable acidity and phenolic grip mean it rewards a few years of patience. It pairs well with roasted white fish, aged cheeses, or dishes built around mushrooms and herbs.
