2024 Grezan - Coqcitan Rouge IGP Pays d'Oc (750ml)

Château Grézan sits in the Faugères hills of the Languedoc, near the village of Laurens in the Hérault, its striking neo-medieval architecture sometimes nicknamed "le petit Carcassonne." Classified a historic monument since 1993, the estate has been run for generations by the Cros-Pujol family, who farm both the steep, schist-laced slopes of the Faugères appellation and broader parcels released under the more flexible IGP Pays d'Oc designation. The domaine blends traditional Languedoc winemaking with a modern touch, suited to this warm, garrigue-scented corner of southern France.

Coqcitan Rouge is built from a generous blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan, three varieties well adapted to the Mediterranean climate and rocky terrain around the estate. Sourced from vineyards across the Pays d'Oc, the grapes are vinified to highlight ripe fruit and structure typical of the region while keeping the wine approachable. The result reflects the sun-drenched character of southern France, built for everyday drinking rather than long cellar aging.

The 2024 pours deep garnet with violet glints and offers a complex nose of ripe black fruit, licorice, spice, and wild herb notes reminiscent of the surrounding scrubland. The palate is full and warm, with soft, well-integrated tannins leading into a long, spiced finish marked by dried herbs and black fruit. It pairs naturally with grilled lamb, herb-roasted vegetables, or a rustic Mediterranean stew.
