The Mauritson family has been growing grapes in Dry Creek Valley since 1868, when they first planted vines in what is now the Rockpile appellation. Clay Mauritson released the first Mauritson Wines vintage in 1998, and winemaker Emma Kudritzki Hall now leads production at the Healdsburg winery. This Sonoma Coast Chardonnay grew out of a partnership with the Sangiacomo family, longtime Sonoma grape growers whose vineyards are among the region's best known.

The 2024 Mauritson Chardonnay is a single vineyard bottling made entirely from Chardonnay grown at Sangiacomo Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast. The winemaking follows a Burgundian approach, with fermentation and aging in French oak barrels, roughly 20 percent of them new. The wine rests on its lees and receives regular bâtonnage to build a creamy texture, and Mauritson has bottled this cuvée unfiltered.

Ripe peach, crisp apple, and toasted almond mingle with brioche and a hint of wet stone minerality. The entry is fresh and creamy, balancing the generous fruit of California with the poise of a Burgundian style. Bright orchard fruit and subtle minerality give the finish focus and lift. This Chardonnay is built to drink well on release and to develop gracefully over several years in the cellar.
