2024 Winiveria - Kindzmarauli (750ml)

Kindzmarauli is one of Georgia's most storied appellations, a protected micro-zone in Kakheti reserved exclusively for naturally semi-sweet red wines made from the indigenous Saperavi grape. The zone sits on the southwest-facing bank of the Alazani River in the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains, where stony, less fertile soils give the wines higher minerality and acidity, balanced by natural residual sugar.

While Saperavi is typically vinified dry elsewhere, the warmer conditions within the Kindzmarauli micro-area accelerate ripening, leading to naturally higher sugar levels in the grape. Winiveria's version is fermented in stainless steel with controlled cooling to halt fermentation at the desired sweetness, preserving a fresh, full-bodied character.

The result is a dark red-pomegranate hue in the glass, with intense aromas of cherry and pomegranate. Expect notes of cherries, blackberries, currants, and a hint of vanilla, with balanced sweetness offset by natural acidity, smooth tannins, and a long finish.

Serve slightly chilled, and pair with honey-glazed chicken, barbecue, or simply alongside chocolate and berry desserts.
