Indri Agneya (Sherry & Bourbon Cask) Indian Single Malt Whiskey 750ml
Indri single malt whisky comes from Piccadily Distillery, located in the town of Indri in Haryana, near the foothills of the Himalayas. Piccadily has grown into one of India's most decorated distilleries, earning gold and double gold honors at international competitions in recent years. The brand distinguishes itself in part through its use of indigenous six-row barley rather than the two-row barley favored by most Scotch producers, a choice that shapes the fuller, fruit driven spirit running through the Indri range.
Agneya takes its name from a Sanskrit word meaning "belonging to fire," a nod to the lightly peated barley used in its production. The whisky carries no age statement and is matured through a combination of ex-bourbon American oak casks and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, a pairing chosen to layer vanilla and toasted wood from the bourbon side against dried fruit and warm spice from the sherry side. It is bottled at 46 percent ABV, left non-chill filtered, and made without added color.
The nose offers dried apple, apricot, and a touch of chocolate over subtle peat dust and earthy undertones. On the palate, tropical notes of mango and ripe banana meet toffee and light spice, with a gentle wave of dried peat smoke rounding things out. The finish balances sweetness and smoke, lingering nicely alongside grilled tandoori chicken.
