Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea (Voyage 26) Rye Whiskey 750ml

Jefferson's Bourbon was founded in 1997 by Trey Zoeller, who drew on a family whiskey lineage tracing back to his eighth-generation grandmother, once arrested for producing spirits in the 1700s. Trey continued the tradition alongside his father Chet, a respected bourbon historian, and built a reputation for experimentation, pushing beyond conventional bourbon and rye production while still honoring older distilling traditions.

Voyage 26 marks the first time an ocean-aged rye has completed the Jefferson's Ocean series, following prior releases that were all bourbons of varying mashbills and proofs. The rye is first matured in barrels with a number three char, then double-barreled in a split of new char three and toasted casks. Those barrels then travel aboard ship for the voyage, crossing the equator multiple times and passing through numerous ports and climates before bottling non-chill filtered at 96 proof.

The constant motion and shifting temperatures at sea accelerate extraction from the wood, drawing out deep caramelization and a faint marine salinity. Aromas of toasted cinnamon and orange peel lead into a palate built on molasses, candied ginger, and dark toffee, with the rye's natural spice holding firm throughout. The finish runs long, closing on charred oak, black pepper, and a whisper of salted caramel.
