Lochlea Sowing Edition 2nd Crop Single Malt 700ml

Lochlea Distillery sits on an Ayrshire farm once worked by the poet Robert Burns, who lived there with his family from 1777 to 1784. Founded by Neil McGeoch and commissioned in 2018, Lochlea operates as a single estate distillery, growing its own Laureate barley on the surrounding land and carrying every step from seed to bottle out on site. That connection to the farm calendar shapes how the distillery names and releases its whisky.

Sowing Edition is one of Lochlea's seasonal small batch releases, timed to mark spring on the farm. The Second Crop bottling was matured exclusively in fresh, first-fill ex-bourbon barrels stored higher in the warehouse than the previous year's edition, a placement that exposes the casks to more heat and speeds maturation. The whisky is bottled without chill filtration or added color, leaving its natural texture and hue intact.

On the nose, this Lowland single malt offers Lochlea's signature sweet red apple and pear, light and inviting. The palate turns creamy and nutty, with vanilla pods, almond oil, caramel apple, and a touch of orange zest. The finish is of medium length, closing with a crisp, refreshing note of pine forest.
