NV Presidential - Porto 10 yr Old (750ml)

Presidential is a brand of C. da Silva, a Port house tracing its roots to 1862 under the name Corrêa Ribeiro e Filhos. Clemente da Silva, who arrived in Portugal from Brazil in 1933, inherited the company through marriage into his wife's family and reshaped it under his own name, registering the Dalva brand the following year. Based in Vila Nova de Gaia, C. da Silva draws its fruit from the Douro's Quinta dos Avidagos and other A-rated vineyards, and has built a particular reputation for its aged Tawny and Colheita Ports.

This 10 Year Old Tawny is a blend of wines aged in oak casks, with the winemaking team selecting and combining barrels of the appropriate maturity to reach the target age profile rather than relying on a single vintage. Fermentation is halted with the addition of grape spirit, and the wine develops its color and character through years of controlled contact with wood before the final blend is bottled with a bar top cork ready for release. This approach lets a relatively young Tawny carry more complexity and depth than its age alone would suggest.

The color is a warm reddish tawny, and the nose offers lively notes of plum, cherry, and vanilla. On the palate the wine is rich with full caramel flavor, finishing long and buttery with a touch of sweetness. Serve it slightly chilled alongside a Portuguese sheep's milk cheese or a warm apple tart.
