Quinta do Crasto is one of the oldest documented estates in the Douro, with records tracing its winemaking back to 1615, when the property first earned Feitoria status among the region's noteworthy vineyards. Constantino de Almeida acquired the estate in 1918, and since 1981 it has been owned and run by Leonor and Jorge Roquette, whose family has renovated and expanded the vineyards while keeping traditional methods like foot treading in stone lagares alive. The estate sits in the heart of the Cima Corgo, between Régua and Pinhão, on steep schist terraces classified among the region's finest.

This 30 Year Old Tawny is a blend of wines from multiple vintages and harvests, brought together for balance and complexity rather than drawn from a single year. The base wines are aged for an average of three decades in Portuguese oak casks, a slow process that concentrates flavor while gradually turning the wine's color from deep ruby toward bright amber with coppery highlights. The extended time in wood also softens tannin and builds the layered, nutty character that defines a Tawny of this age.

The nose shows remarkable complexity, with dried fruit, caramelized figs, toasted almonds, and orange marmalade alongside hints of honey, spice, and a faint trace of iodine. On the palate it is concentrated yet fresh, full-bodied with a long, lingering finish. Serve slightly chilled alongside dark chocolate, aged cheeses, or a plate of roasted nuts.

96 Points
"This shows lovely range, with white peach, green fig, hazelnut husk, argan oil, white ginger and sandalwood all woven together, with a filigreed feel. Offers lovely underlying tension thanks to its seamlessly embedded acidity. Gorgeous. Drink now. 288 cases made, 30 cases imported."
