Torabhaig ALLT GLEANN Batch Strength Single Malt Scotch Whiskey 750ml
Torabhaig is the second licensed single malt distillery to open on the Isle of Skye, built at a restored 19th-century farmstead whose stone was originally hauled up from a ruined castle by the bay. The site was chosen for its proximity to two natural burns, the Allt Breacach and the Allt Gleann, which still supply the distillery with pure island spring water. Following a four-year restoration, Torabhaig now produces whisky from traditional copper stills and wooden washbacks, carrying forward a legal distilling tradition on Skye that dates back to shortly after the Excise Act of 1823.
Allt Gleann Batch Strength forms part of Torabhaig's Legacy Series and is crafted from Concerto and Laureate malted barley, peated to more than 78 parts per million of phenols before distillation, yielding roughly 23 ppm in the finished spirit. The whisky matures in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and refill whisky casks, then is bottled unchill-filtered and without added coloring at a robust 61.1% ABV, true to cask strength.
The nose brings oaky vanilla, beach bonfire smoke, and cigar box cedar with a touch of lemon peel. On the palate, bold peat smoke meets saline minerality, tropical fruit, and vanilla biscuit, finishing long and warming with orchard fruit, floral honey, and sea salt.
