Torabhaig sits on a restored 19th-century farmstead in the village of Teangue, on the southern tip of the Isle of Skye, and holds the distinction of being the first new distillery on the island in nearly two centuries. Founded by Mossburn Distillers, production began in 2017 under whisky maker Neil MacLeod Mathieson, working alongside a small team of local distillers trained entirely in-house. As the second licensed single malt distillery on Skye, alongside neighbor Talisker, Torabhaig has spent its early years building a reputation through limited Legacy Series releases before arriving at a permanent expression of its own.

Taigh, meaning house in Scottish Gaelic, marks that milestone as Torabhaig's first permanent core release. The whisky is crafted from lightly peated barley and matured across a combination of first-fill and refill ex-bourbon casks, supplemented by a parcel finished in ex-Madeira casks, which softens the peat's edge and adds richness. It is bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or added color, in small batches meant to represent Torabhaig's house style going forward.

The nose carries seaside embers, baked apple, and maple syrup, while the palate unfolds with gentle smoke, vanilla custard, toasted almond, and sweet dried fruit. The finish lingers with warm cinnamon, clove, and a trailing wisp of smoke.
