Crystal Head Aurora Vodka 750ml

Crystal Head Vodka was founded in 2007 by actor and comedian Dan Aykroyd along with artist John Alexander, who designed the brand's distinctive glass skull bottle. Aurora arrived roughly a decade later, in 2016, as a more luxurious expression within the lineup, created to honor the aurora borealis with an iridescent, metallized bottle finish meant to echo the natural light display. The company, Globefill Inc., is based in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, and takes pride in producing spirits free of additives, glycerol, citrus oils, or sweeteners.

Aurora departs from the original Crystal Head recipe by using high-quality English wheat rather than corn as its base grain. The wheat is distilled five times into a neutral spirit and blended with pristine water sourced from Newfoundland. From there the vodka passes through seven filtrations in total, with three of those runs moving through layers of Herkimer diamonds, a form of naturally occurring quartz prized for the added smoothness it lends the final spirit.

Aurora opens with a crisp, delicate floral aroma carrying a subtle hint of anise. The palate turns warmer and spicier than the original release, with pronounced peppercorn notes balanced by a touch of sweetness. Dried mint and vanilla bean also surface alongside the grain character, and the finish stays dry, clean, and lingering, with a gentle warming sensation throughout.
