Stolichnaya Elit is the ultra-premium tier of the Stoli portfolio, first introduced in 2003 and produced by the Stoli Group, formerly known as S.P.I. Group, at the historic Latvijas Balzams distillery in Riga, Latvia. Like the rest of the Stoli range, Elit traces its lineage back to the Moscow State Wine Warehouse No. 1, established in 1901 to raise Russian vodka standards, though following Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine the brand shifted its alcohol sourcing away from Russia to Slovakia as part of a broader move to distance itself from Russian production entirely.

Elit begins with 100% winter wheat, triple distilled and blended with artesian well water drawn from 200 meters below the surface. What sets it apart is a proprietary freeze filtration process: the spirit is chilled to negative 18 degrees Celsius and passed at an extremely slow rate through an ion-charged filter, a technique inspired by the old tradition of leaving vodka casks outdoors through brutal winter cold to naturally purify the spirit. The vodka then undergoes further filtration through quartz sand and charcoal before bottling at 40% ABV, a combination designed to strip away impurities that conventional methods leave behind.

The nose opens gently, with soft floral notes of vanilla and fresh linen, followed by lemongrass and a faint mineral hint of flint. On the palate, the entry is soft and grain-forward, moving from a touch of bitter almond into sweeter almond and vanilla cream, with a whisper of lemon custard. The finish is dry and peppery, closing with a clean, lingering elegance.
