Zyr Vodka 750ml

Zyr Vodka was created by American entrepreneur David Katz, who set out in the early 2000s to bring an authentically crafted Russian-style vodka to the U.S. market after growing frustrated that so many premium vodkas on American shelves came from anywhere but Russia. After touring numerous Russian distilleries and finding their process too industrialized for his taste, Katz developed his own recipe built around a blend of winter wheat and rye, launching Zyr in 2002 under a proprietary production philosophy known as the 9-5-3 formula: nine filtrations, five distillations, and three separate tastings for quality control.

Zyr is distilled from a custom blend of soft red winter wheat and rye, with grain sourced from Janie's Farms and water drawn from the historic Sankoty Aquifer in Central Illinois. The fermented mash undergoes five separate distillations to maximize clarity and purity, using only the purest "hearts" of the distillate at each pass. Following distillation, the spirit is filtered four additional times through carefully selected birch tree charcoal granules to remove any remaining impurities and round out the texture. The finished vodka contains no added sugar and is bottled at 40% ABV.

The nose is clean and fresh, with a light aroma of cut grain. On the palate, the texture is notably creamy, carrying flavors of buttermilk biscuit and butterscotch alongside citrus and a touch of black peppercorn. The finish is short and clean, closing with a subtle, lingering sweetness.
