Jameson Whiskey 750ml

John Jameson, a Scottish lawyer with a head for business, founded his distillery on Dublin's Bow Street in 1780, and within a generation the whiskey he built there had become a global standard for the category. Production remained in Dublin for nearly two centuries before the consolidation of Ireland's whiskey industry moved operations to the modern Midleton Distillery in County Cork, where Jameson is made today under the guidance of head distiller Kevin O'Gorman. Despite the change in address, the brand has held onto the founder's original approach, and it remains the best-selling Irish whiskey in the world.

Jameson is a blend of single pot still whiskey, distilled from a mix of malted and unmalted barley, and lighter grain whiskey, with both components triple distilled in copper pot stills for added smoothness and clarity. Water drawn from the Dungourney River and barley sourced locally in Ireland go into the mash, and the resulting spirit rests in oak casks, mainly seasoned bourbon barrels along with a portion of sherry casks, for a minimum of four years before blending and bottling. This extra distillation step, uncommon even among Irish whiskeys, strips out heavier congeners and gives the finished spirit its characteristic light, clean profile.

On the nose, floral notes mingle with spiced wood and a gentle sweetness reminiscent of sherry. The palate is smooth and medium bodied, carrying vanilla, toasted oak, and a touch of black pepper alongside orchard fruit and a faint nuttiness. The finish is soft and lingering, closing on citrus peel and warm spice. This versatility makes it equally suited to sipping neat or mixing into a classic Old Fashioned.
