Ardnamurchan AD/ Highland Single Malt Whiskey 700ml
Ardnamurchan Distillery opened in 2014 on the remote Ardnamurchan peninsula, making it the most westerly whisky distillery on mainland Scotland. It was built by Adelphi, a respected independent bottler with roots going back to the nineteenth century, as the company's first venture into producing its own spirit rather than sourcing casks from elsewhere. Reached along miles of single track road on Scotland's rugged west coast, the site runs almost entirely on power generated on its own land, drawing on a hydroelectric turbine, a biomass boiler fed by local woodchip, and a bank of solar panels.
AD/ is Ardnamurchan's core release, made from an equal blend of peated and unpeated malt. Maturation splits roughly two thirds ex-bourbon casks and one third ex-sherry casks, including both Oloroso and PX, giving the whisky a foundation that leans fruity and sweet rather than smoky. It carries no age statement, is bottled at 46.8 percent, and remains unchill filtered with its natural color intact. Every bottle carries a QR code that traces the whisky's production details back through blockchain records.
The nose combines orchard fruit and sea salt with a gentle wisp of smoke, toffee, and citrus oil. On the palate, ripe pear and honey meet dark chocolate and a peppery bite, while the finish lingers long and maritime, carrying a last trace of campfire smoke.
