Formerly known as Stagg Jr., this is Buffalo Trace's annual cask-strength expression named for George T. Stagg, the 19th-century owner of the distillery. Aged roughly 8–9 years and bottled uncut and unfiltered straight from the barrel, proof varies batch to batch — often well above 125. Expect a bold, brawny profile: dark berries, cherry, and currant up front, layered with vanilla, mocha, and rich oak, moving into a viscous palate balancing sweet burnt sugar with bitter pipe tobacco, finishing long with dark jam, coffee, and semi-sweet chocolate. A serious, high-intensity pour and one of the best values in barrel-proof bourbon.
