2023 Massican - White Blend Napa Gemina (750ml)

Massican is Napa Valley's dedicated white wine specialist, founded by Dan Petroski while he was still serving as winemaker at Larkmead Cellars. After years spent living and working in Italy, Petroski returned to California with a craving for the bright, saline white wines of the Mediterranean, a style largely absent from Napa's Cabernet-dominated landscape. What began as a side project has grown into one of the region's most sought-after labels, with bottles poured at restaurants such as the French Laundry and Chez Panisse.

Gemina takes its name from an ancient grape once cultivated near the Massico hills of southern Italy, a nod to the varieties Petroski chose to plant in California. The 2023 vintage blends 60 percent Greco, 23 percent Falanghina, and 17 percent Fiano, finishing at a modest 12 percent alcohol. The grapes were sourced from cooler pockets within Napa Valley and vinified to preserve freshness and acidity rather than richness or oak influence.

The wine opens with aromas of sea spray, pear skin, and citrus zest, moving into a bright, mouthwatering palate of lemon, lime, fig, and ginger with a mineral edge. It finishes clean and dry, making it a natural match for chilled crab, grilled fish, or a lemony vinaigrette salad.
