2021 Trimbach - Riesling Reserve
Maison Trimbach has been a family-owned fixture in Ribeauvillé since 1626, with over thirteen generations shaping the estate's reputation for structured, dry, and long-lived white wines. Today the domaine is managed by twelfth-generation winemaker Pierre Trimbach alongside his nephew Julien, whose combined experience and forward thinking keep the house style consistent while allowing for gradual, thoughtful evolution.
This Riesling Réserve draws entirely on estate-grown grapes from the villages of Bergheim and Ribeauvillé, including old vines averaging more than forty five years of age planted on marl, limestone, and sandstone soils with southeast exposure. Additional fruit comes from sites like the Trottacker-Forst lieu-dit and the Grand Cru Altenberg in Bergheim, known for its stony, fossil-rich red marls. The wine undergoes no oak aging, allowing the natural character of these varied limestone terroirs to come through with clarity and precision.
The nose offers white tree fruit alongside spring blossoms and garden herbs, with a subtle touch of smoke adding complexity. The palate is elegant and taut, carrying a fine mineral edge through to a long, bright, citrusy finish. This is a versatile match for shellfish, roasted white meats, or a classic Alsatian choucroute.
