2024 Bertani - Soave Vintage Edition (750ml)
Bertani has been a defining name in Veneto winemaking for more than 150 years, so closely tied to Amarone that the two are nearly synonymous in the region. Founded in the nineteenth century, the estate has earned royal accreditation along the way while balancing respect for tradition with a steady embrace of modern technique. That dual approach, honoring old methods while refining them with contemporary tools, defines the estate's philosophy across its full range, including its historic Soave bottlings.
Soave Vintage Edition is made from Garganega grown on pergola-trained vines averaging thirty to forty years old, planted on the western slope of the Soave hill north of the castle. About 40 percent of the fruit is picked in September and pressed as white must, while the remainder is harvested in early October, carefully selected, and macerated on the skins for three to four days, a technique borrowed from red winemaking that intensifies aromatic expression. The wine then matures on its lees in concrete vats for nine months before further bottle aging.
The glass shows an intense straw-yellow hue with golden highlights, opening to aromas of peach, pear, and apricot layered with delicate floral notes. The palate is plush and enveloping, carried by a gentle textural grip and finishing with a persistent, stony minerality. Its richness and structure make it a natural match for roast poultry, grilled shellfish, or aged hard cheeses.
