Mother Block comes from Chalmers Wines, a family operation based in Merbein in Australia's Murray Darling region, near Mildura. The Chalmers family has spent over twenty years importing and pioneering Italian grape varieties in Australia, and their vineyard and vine nursery in Merbein serves as the source block that supplies millions of vines planted across the country's wine regions, which is exactly why they call it the "Mother Block." These sustainably farmed blocks aren't just the source of grapes for wine; they also provide vine material to growers nationwide, and the family has held the privilege of being the first Australian growers to work with dozens of Italian varieties.

This co-fermented field blend combines 73% Vermentino, 16% Fiano, 5% Grechetto, 2% Greco, 2% Glera, 1% Pinot Bianco, and 1% Pinot Grigio, all grown on the estate's red sand and limestone soils under the wide skies of the Murray Darling region.

The wine opens with tangy aromas of lemon sorbet, zesty passionfruit, zingy pineapple, and flourless almond cake, carrying the same fruit mix onto the palate alongside cool cress-like notes and a nettle-like texture, finishing with a super cool, refreshing feel. A heady perfume of lemon peel, white grapefruit, and florals opens the glass, with a gentle, creamy texture and mouthwatering acidity building through the mid-palate. Bright and minerally, it carries fresh citrus, white flowers, and fresh linen notes on the nose, with orange blossom on the refreshing, crisp palate.

Light-weighted, bright, and versatile, this wine is subtle enough to stand up to boldly flavored cuisine like Thai or Mexican food.
