The 2022 Trimbach Gewurztraminer is a benchmark expression of Alsace's most flamboyant white grape, produced by one of the region's oldest and most respected family estates. Maison Trimbach was founded in 1626 in the medieval city of Ribeauvillé, and the family has remained at the helm for 13 generations. Winemaking is expertly managed by 12th-generation Pierre Trimbach alongside his nephew Julien, and in 2023 the estate earned HVE-3 Organic certification, reflecting their dedication to expressing the highest-caliber terroir. The grapes are sourced from Trimbach's own vines and those of partner growers on hillside terroirs in the sub-Vosges foothills, with soils of marl, limestone, and sandstone.

After hand-selection at maturity, the grapes are delicately pressed in a pneumatic press and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats, with no malolactic fermentation and no extended lees aging, preserving the wine's natural acidity, freshness, and aromatic lift. The wine is bottled in spring and aged a minimum of two years in the cellar before release. The result is quintessential Trimbach: dry, precise, and poised. The elegant bouquet leads with roses, lychee, and citrus fruit, carrying through to a lively, fresh finish. James Suckling awarded the 2022 vintage 92 points, calling it a very spicy and properly dry example of the new style, with excellent structure, a slight bitterness that accentuates freshness, and a long, super-clean finish with drive. Pair with Alsatian charcuterie, spiced dishes, duck confit, soft washed-rind cheeses, or Thai and Indian cuisine.
