The 2023 Trimbach Riesling Hommage à Hubert Trimbach is a deeply personal and singular release from one of Alsace's most storied houses. Hubert Trimbach (1938–2023) was the tireless public face of the family winery for over half a century, a fervent ambassador who spread the gospel of Alsace wines across the world. When he passed away at the dawn of the 2023 harvest, his family created this tribute bottling to commemorate his legacy. It is produced from a selection of Riesling sourced from various Alsace Grand Cru terroirs, and while Jean Trimbach declines to disclose the specific vineyard sources, he confirms the wine draws on three parcels with schist, Triassic limestone, and granitic-volcanic soil influences.

The wine was aged in old foudres and stainless steel, then bottled in spring 2024 to retain its freshness, vivacity, and typical aromas, before spending two years in the family cellars prior to release. At 13% ABV with just 2.8 g/L residual sugar, it is fully dry. The nose is driven by citrus blossom, yellow apple, Meyer lemon, and ginger, while the palate is complex and textured, with stone fruit, spice, vibrant acidity, and a long, zippy finish. Its aging potential is 10 to 15 years, though it is blended to drink beautifully now. Pair with smoked salmon, roasted pork, Alsatian choucroute, or fresh goat cheese.
