2023 Talley - Chardonnay Estate San Luis Obispo (750ml)

Talley Vineyards' Estate Chardonnay is the winery's signature white and traces back to the family's very first vintage in 1986. It's crafted from several of Talley's iconic estate sites on the San Luis Obispo Coast, including Rosemary's Vineyard overlooking the Pacific, Rincon Vineyard, and Oliver's Vineyard, named for Talley Farms founder Oliver Talley.

The 2023 growing season opened with a wet winter, as a series of atmospheric river storms brought nearly 50 inches of rain to the Arroyo Grande Valley, more than double the historic average. The abundant yields that followed give this vintage an approachable, generous character. Grapes were certified sustainably grown, whole cluster pressed, and fermented with native yeasts in French oak, of which 23% was new, before aging 11 months in barrel and 3 months in tank through full malolactic fermentation.

Expect aromas of Honeycrisp apple, white peach, melon, and pine, leading into flavors of Granny Smith apple and wet slate that stay fresh and bright, with a juicy finish. Underlying it all is the bright, saline energy that comes from the San Luis Obispo Coast, one of the coolest AVAs in California thanks to its proximity to the Pacific.

This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with lemony risotto, roasted shellfish, or a simple avocado toast. It's an ideal choice for anyone who loves coastal California Chardonnay with real precision and lift.
