2024 Merlin Cherrier - Sancerre (750ml)
A benchmark Sancerre from one of Bué's most respected family estates, the 2024 Domaine Merlin-Cherrier is a textbook expression of cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc with genuine terroir character. Now in the hands of winemaker Agathe Merlin, who took over from her father Thierry in 2022, the domaine is cultivated sustainably in the celebrated Bué sub-region of Sancerre. The estate works thirty parcels totaling 32 acres, predominantly in Bué, a village prized for its caillottes soils, the stony Oxfordian limestone that produces wines with broad aromatics and elegant profiles.
With a focus on minimal intervention in viticulture, the estate preserves the character of its vineyards and the surrounding ecosystem. In the glass, this Sancerre reveals aromas of lemon, spring flowers, menthol, and pear; the palate is chiseled and taut, perfectly balanced and moderately weighted, finishing with a pure, saline, and crystalline quality.
Pairs beautifully with:
- Oysters, shellfish, and grilled white fish
- Loire goat cheese, including Crottin de Chavignol
- Lightly dressed salads and herb-forward spring dishes
Enjoy in its vibrant youth, or cellar with confidence for three to five years.
