The 2024 Troupis Winery "Hoof & Lur" Moschofilero PGI Arcadia is a compelling orange wine that reframes one of Greece's most beloved aromatic white grapes through the lens of ancient winemaking tradition. Moschofilero is a pink-skinned variety native to the high plateau of Mantinia in Arcadia, where the Troupis family has cultivated vines since the 1970s. This wine is the winery's homage to Moschofilero as it was made for millennia on the Mantinia plateau: with skin contact, spontaneous fermentation using naturally occurring wild yeasts, and bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimum sulfites added. Moschofilero's pink skins make it uniquely suited to this ramato-style approach, producing a wine of deep amber-copper hue alongside just a hint of tannin and phenolic grip.

On the nose, the wine is floral and inviting, with powdered sugar and blood orange leading the aromatic profile. Honeysuckle and ginger add a succulent, floral dimension without becoming perfumed or cloying. The palate is vibrant, with citrus notes and fresh acidity providing lively structure, while a lean, stylish body carries enough flesh to give grip and presence. Grapes are hand-picked and fermented with native yeasts, keeping intervention to a minimum throughout. Pair with grilled octopus, lamb chops, and grilled aubergine, or enjoy alongside meze and Mediterranean seafood dishes. Serve lightly chilled at around 12°C.
