A recent "Ex-Chateau" release direct from their cellars. Drinking beautifully right now!

ernard Magrez's flagship Grand Cru Classé — the largest in St. Emilion at over 140 acres, with a history stretching back six centuries. 2016 was a standout vintage here: a rich, powerful core of red plum and mulberry, assertive and polished on the palate with great tannin texture, long and regal — even more lively than the excellent 2015. Merlot-dominant with a dollop of Cabernet Franc and a touch of Malbec, aged 18 months in 45% new oak.

Country France
Region St. Emilion, Bordeaux
Producer Chateau Fombrauge
Varietal 89% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec
Classification Grand Cru Classé

94 Points - James Suckling (2016)

94 Points
"The 2016 Fombrauge has come together beautifully during its aging and is now a much more refined wine than it was from barrel. Sweet red berry fruit, mocha, espresso, mint and floral notes all grace this exquisite, midweight Saint-Émilion. The 2016 is simply impeccable, not to mention incredibly delicious. There is not much more to it than that. Tasted two
times.
