Léoville-Poyferré is the largest of the three Léoville estates and, under the direction of Michel Rolland and the Cuvelier family, has become one of Saint-Julien's most consistently overachieving Second Growths. 2016 is widely regarded as one of the finest Left Bank vintages in a generation, and this wine shows it: a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend with real density and freshness in equal measure. Expect a deep, layered nose of blackcurrant, graphite, and cedar, with a full-bodied, richly structured palate, firm but polished tannins, and a long, precise finish. Built for the long haul — a serious cellar candidate from an exceptional vintage.

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Léoville Poyferré hits the ground running with intense cassis, violets, dark chocolate, menthol and fragrant earth notions complemented by nuances of cigar box and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is charged with energetic, super intense black fruit and floral layers, beautifully supported with super firm, ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness. This liquid is simply alive in the mouth, culminating in an epically long finish that will leave your mouth practically tingling. WOW!"
