One of Barolo's great historic estates, founded in 1850 in Verduno — and still the benchmark for the appellation's most elegant, perfumed style. The 2022 opens with vermouth-like aromas of cinnamon candy, rhubarb, potpourri, wild strawberries, dried cherries, angelica, and licorice, with a clove note backing up the finish. Full-bodied and smooth, the palate delivers succulent Morello cherry, raspberry compote, licorice, and dried mint alongside tightly woven, velvety tannins, with a tangy blood orange note lifting the finish. Burlotto chose to release only the classico in 2022 — no single-vineyard crus — focusing the best fruit into one expressive, immediately appealing Barolo. Outstanding value from one of the zone's most storied addresses. Drink 2027–2037.

96 Points
"In 2022, the estate chose not to bottle any single-vineyard Barolos, blending the sites into a classic Barolo instead. The 2022 Barolo pours a bright ruby color and shows impressive balance without reflecting the heat of the vintage. Aromas of raspberries, fresh cherries, and flowers lead into a palate with ripe tannins, freshness, and wonderful harmony. Engaging and expressive rather than heavy, it’s a beautiful interpretation of the year. Drink 2026-2040."
