2022 Chateau Senejac - Haut-Medoc HALF BOTTLE (375ml)

Château Sénéjac is one of the older estates in the Haut-Médoc, with a history tracing back to the 16th century, when Nicolas de Bloys is credited with planting the property's first vines. The de Guigné family held the estate for nearly 140 years, from 1860 until 1999, when it was purchased by Lorraine Cordier, who also owned Château Talbot, a Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Julien. Cordier gave the vineyard renewed focus and direction, and since her passing in 2011 the property has been run by her sister, Nancy Bignon-Cordier, with the family's fifth generation now involved in its stewardship.

The estate sits on a plateau above the Aygue Longue stream in the commune of Le Pian-Médoc, on clay and gravel soils positioned between Margaux and the city of Bordeaux. The 2022 blend combines forty-seven percent Cabernet Sauvignon with thirty-four percent Merlot, thirteen percent Cabernet Franc, and six percent Petit Verdot, picked in mid to late September at low yields. The wine aged fifteen months in French oak, thirty percent of it new.

The wine offers aromas of sweet cassis, dried flowers, and pencil shavings, layered with notes of lavender and light spice. The palate is medium bodied, velvety, and seamless, with fresh fruit carrying into a long, flavorful finish. It pairs nicely with charcuterie, roast pork, or an aged sheep's cheese.
