2022 Domaine de la Grange des Peres - VdP de l'Herault (750ml)

Widely considered Languedoc's original cult wine, founded by the late Laurent Vaillé, who trained under legends like Aubert de Villaine (Domaine de la Romanée-Conti) and Gérard Chave before returning home to build something entirely his own. The vineyard blends 40% Syrah and 40% Mourvèdre (cuttings originally sourced from J.L. Chave), with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Counoise, all goblet-trained, notoriously low-yielding vines. This is the first vintage released after Vaillé's tragic and early passing, with son Baptiste Vaillé continuing the estate's uncompromising, almost Burgundian approach in a Languedoc landscape better known for volume than precision. Expect a pure, vibrant, and finely structured wine with fresh black cherry, wild blackberry, and red plum, layered with garrigue, black olive, and subtle peppery spice, backed by polished tannins, bright acidity, and a pronounced mineral backbone. Long, savory, and age-worthy, this remains one of the most sought-after bottlings from outside Bordeaux and Burgundy.
