2023 Louis Latour - Pouilly Fuisse HALF BOTTLE (375ml)
Maison Louis Latour has been run by the same Burgundian family since 1797, making it one of the oldest continuously family-owned négociant houses in the region. What sets Latour apart from many of its peers is the scale of its own vineyard holdings, including substantial parcels of Corton grand cru, alongside a long-standing négociant business that sources fruit from across Burgundy's finest communes. The house has also been a pioneer in bringing Burgundian winemaking techniques to regions outside the Côte d'Or, developing respected wines in the Ardèche and southern France while keeping its core identity rooted in Burgundy.
This Pouilly-Fuissé comes from vineyards spread across the appellation's four communes, Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly, Vergisson, and Chaintré, where limestone and heavy clay soils give the wine its structure. Made entirely from Chardonnay off vines averaging around thirty years old, the wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation and ages eight to ten months in stainless steel, a choice that keeps the fruit forward and unmarked by oak.
The wine pours a pale yellow with green tints, opening to a floral nose of acacia and honeysuckle layered with fresh almond. The palate is full and round, finishing long and persistent. It pairs well with poached skate, charcuterie, or a wheel of Reblochon.
